Biography
Born in the village of Apalkovo, Soskovsky (now Kromsky ) district of the Oryol region in the family of a builder.
In 1969 he graduated from the Physics and Mathematics School No. 18 at Moscow State University ( SUNTs MSU ). In 1974 he graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University with a degree in mathematics . He was a secretary of the Komsomol committee mehmat. In the 1980s, he held senior positions in the selection committee. In 1976-1978 and 1980-1984, he was a teacher of mathematics at the Physics and Mathematics School No. 18 at Moscow State University [1] . He defended his candidate dissertation on the subject “Multiple trigonometric sums” [2] in 1977, and his doctoral dissertation on the subject “Multidimensional problems of the theory of primes” [3] in 1989. Since 1992 - Professor, Department of Mathematical Analysis, Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, Moscow State University.
Chairman of the specialized council for mathematics at Moscow State University. Editor-in-chief of the journals “ Bulletin of Moscow University. Series I. Mathematics, Mechanics ”(2006),“ Chebyshevsky Sbornik ”(2001), Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the journal“ Eurasian Mathematical Journal ”(2005), member of the editorial boards of the journals“ Discrete Mathematics ”(2002),“ Questions of atomic science and technology. Series: mathematical modeling of physical processes ”(2005).
He teaches the basic course “Mathematical Analysis” for students of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics and special courses: “Selected chapters of analytical number theory”, “Sieve methods in number theory”, “Additive problems in number theory”, “Arithmetic functions”.
He has published over 130 scientific works and 11 monographs, including the book “Theory of Multiple Trigonometric Sums” (1987, together with G. Arkhipov and A. A. Karatsuba ), “Lectures on Mathematical Analysis” (1999, together with Arkhipov G. . I. , Sadovnichim V.A. ), “Arithmetic. Algorithms The complexity of computing ”(1996, together with S. Gashkov ),“ Elements of arithmetic ”(1999).
He was awarded the medal of the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland", II degree (2005), the medal "In memory of the 850th anniversary of Moscow" (1997), the jubilee badge "250 years of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov "(2004), the anniversary sign" 225 years of the Black Sea Fleet "(2008). Prize winner M.V. Lomonosov for teaching activities (Moscow State University, 1999). Laureate of the competition of scientific works of young scientists of Moscow State University MV Lomonosov for the series of works “Asymptotic formula for the number of solutions of one system of Diophantine equations” (1981). Honorary Doctor of the Eurasian National University. L.N. Gumilyova (2006, Kazakhstan).
Among the students of V. N. Chubarikov there are 33 candidates and 3 doctors of sciences.
According to the online edition of Tatyana’s Day, he repeatedly supported the efforts of teachers and students of the Tatiana Church at Moscow State University [4] . He signed a letter to the rector of Moscow State University for the construction of a chapel in honor of Saints Equal to the Apostles Cyril and Methodius on the territory of Moscow State University [5] . In his interview, he said that the evidence-based part of science and faith “do not contradict, but, on the contrary, complement each other, allow a person to live a full life” [6] .
Scientific Interests
The scientific interests of Chubarikov are analytical number theory , additive problems of number theory, sieve methods in number theory, algorithmic problems of number theory, and mathematical analysis . The theme of the PhD thesis: "Multiple trigonometric sums." Theme of the doctoral dissertation: "Multidimensional problems of the theory of primes." [7]
He is one of the creators of the theory of multiple trigonometric sums ; author of the theory of multiple trigonometric sums with primes, which is a further development of the research of I. M. Vinogradov. He obtained new estimates of complete rational trigonometric sums; multiple trigonometric sums of a general form, in particular, in the case when the summation variables run through the values of consecutive primes. Got the laws of distribution of the values of some periodic arithmetic functions. Used arithmetic functions to distort the frequencies of the appearance of characters in a simple replacement cipher (together with M.P. Mineev). He gave an arithmetic approach to the construction of the Vizhener cipher in 2008 together with M.P. Mineev. Solved the Hilbert – Kamke problem in primes [7] .
As of 2013, the official website of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University claims that V. N. Chubarikov gave a complete solution to the Waring – Goldbach problem in 2009 [7] . However, the only article in 2009 devoted to this topic [8] provides a solution to a problem that is only in a sense similar to the Waring – Goldbach problem [9] .
