St. Andrew's Embankment

Andreevskaya Embankment (name since 1925 [1] [2] ) - the embankment of the Moscow River in the Gagarinsky district of the South-West Administrative District of Moscow. It is located between the Andreevsky bridge and the Luzhnetsk metro bridge or between Pushkinskaya and Vorobyovskaya embankments. Ezdakov Lane adjoins the embankment.

Name Origin

The embankment was named in 1902 [3] by the buildings of the Andreevsky Monastery located on it.

History

St. Andrew's Embankment was built in 1901-1902 and then had a length of 159 fathoms (338 m) [4] . It was located in the Andreevskaya Sloboda, where there were several Andreevskaya streets and there were small wooden and stone houses, most of which were demolished in the mid-1970s during the construction of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences . In September 2004, the Green Hills residential complex was built on the waterfront, and apartments and cottages are currently being sold [5] .

Transport

At the end of the embankment - the Vorobyovy Gory metro station, 1 km from the embankment - the Leninsky Prospekt metro station.

City transport on the promenade does not go. The promenade is a pedestrian, a bike path is laid.

Sports and outdoor activities

On St. Andrew's Embankment, you can make walking and cycling, rollerblading and skateboarding, jogging along the Moscow River for long distances from TsPKiO im. Gorky to the Third Ring Road through Vorobyovskaya Embankment along specially designated paths. On Andreevskaya Embankment, not far from the Vorobyovy Gory metro station, there is a rental point for the corresponding sports equipment, as well as a small snack bar. For those who want to sunbathe in the sun on the promenade, a beach is equipped.

On the Moscow River from the pier of St. Andrew's Monastery, you can ride on a river tram .
