Fishhoek [1] ( eng. Fish Hoek , African. Vishoek ) is a city in the south-west of the Republic of South Africa , on the territory of the Western Cape . It is part of the Cape Town urban district . Climatic resort on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean .

History
The first settlement of farmers arose in the area of Fiskhuka in 1818 . The city was founded on the territory of the Fischook farm in 1919 [2] . In 1940, Vishuk received the status of a municipality . In 2000, the city was included in the Cape Town urban district.
Geographical position
The city is located in the southwestern part of the province, in the eastern part of the Cape Peninsula , on the banks of the Falls Bay, approximately 5 kilometers south of Cape Town , the provincial capital. The absolute height is 22 meters above sea level [3] .
Climate
The climate of the city is subtropical Mediterranean . The average annual rainfall is 823 mm. Most rainfall occurs between April and October . The average maximum air temperature varies from 15.5 ° C (in July) to 25.6 ° C (in February). The coldest month of the year is July . The average minimum night temperature for this month is 7.4 ° C [4] .
Population
According to the 2001 official census , the population was 15,851 people, of whom 46.5% were men, 53.5% respectively. In racial terms, whites made up 94.46% of the population of the city, color - 2.78%; Blacks - 2.20%; Asians (including Indians ) - 0.56%. The most common languages among the townspeople were: English (87.86%) and Afrikaans (10.15%) [5] .
According to the data obtained during the official census of 2011, 11,890 people lived in Fiskuk, of whom 45.73% were men, 54.27% were women, respectively. In racial terms, whites made up 82.15% of the city's population; blacks - 9.69%; color - 5.05%; Asians (including Indians) - 1.17%; representatives of other races - 1.93%. The most common languages among city residents were: English (82.98%) and Afrikaans (12.64%) [6] .
Attractions
In the vicinity of the city is the Cape Flats Cave, in which the fossil remains of Cro-Magnons about 35 thousand years old were discovered [7] .
