Despite this, the strongly demilitarized New Republic did not consider the First Order as a real threat and ignored it, therefore, to combat the growing threat, a group of rebel veterans led by General Leia Organa decided to create a militarized organization called the Resistance .

The core of the Resistance was the veterans of the struggle with the Empire, and their leader, the Organ, became a symbol for the members of the organization, inspiring each of them. Members were recruited from the army of the New Republic, as well as from worlds that experienced the worst of the Empire and the First Order.
