Biography

Aszoni was born in the village of Väike-Maarja [1] , used Lääne-Virumaa . She studied singing at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theater under Ivo Kuuska, Matti Pelo and Helin Kapteno. In 2002 she became a master of arts. Until 2004, she participated in the program of young artists of the Netherlands Opera Studio, where she studied with Henny Jan Diemer. She also studied at the prestigious private academy of Carlo Bergonzi in Italy [2] .

Aszoni began her career in the famous Chamber Choir of the Estonian Philharmonic (1995-1998). In 2000, she made her debut as Despina in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's opera “ That's what everybody does ” in the Vanemuine Theater. She was very active as an opera singer in her country, having performed such parts as Adina in Donizetti's “ Love Drink ” opera, Maria in Donizetti’s opera “ Mary Stuart ”, Donna Anna and Donna Elvira in Mozart’s opera “ Don Juan ”, Leonora in Beethoven’s opera Fidelio , Miss Jessel in Britten's The Turn of the Screw opera, as well as the lead roles in Haydn's Armide , Jeanne d'Arc Verdi, Sister Angelica Puccini and others. She also sang at the world premiere of Isadora Zhebelyan 's operas “ Zora D ” (main part, 2004) and “ Two Chapters and the Maiden ” (goddess Kali, 2012).

Since 2010, she sings in the National Opera “Estonia” , where in her repertoire the roles of Amelia and Violetta in “ Masquerade Ball ” and “ La Traviata ” by Giuseppe Verdi, Fiordiligi in “ So Do All ” by Mozart, Mimi and Manon in “ Bogem ”, “ Manon Lesko ” by Giacomo Puccini , Margaret in “ Faust ” by Charles Gounod , Rosalind in “ Bat ” by Johann Strauss , Venus and Elizabeth in “ Tannhäuser ” by Richard Wagner and Women in “ Wallenberg ” by Erkki-Sven Tuire .

Recognition

  • In 2004, she was a finalist in the Queen Elizabeth Competition in Belgium , receiving the Prix ​​des Donateurs du Concours Reine Elisabeth .
  • In 2007 she was awarded the prize of the Estonian Musical Council for the best interpretation [3] .
  • In 2010 and 2012, Aszoni was awarded the annual Estonian Theater Prize for outstanding opera performances.
  • In 2012, she received an annual audience award from the Estonian National Opera and SEB [4] .
