VIXX LR

The name VIXX LR is a combination of VIXX (pronounced vicks an acronym for Voice, Visual, Value in Excelsis ) and the initials of the participant names, “L” for Leo and “R” for Ravi. In an interview with Pops in Seoul, VIXX LR said that their name also means “left” and “right”, meaning that their contrasting qualities and images create harmony on the stage. The letters "L" and "R" also represented the first and last letters in the word LiaR in their debut mini album Beautiful Liar and the title track.

2015 - Present: Debut with Beautiful Liar

On August 7, 2015, Jellyfish Entertainment released a video trailer on the official VIXX website, with a mysterious countdown and the silhouette of the latest VIXX Boys' Record special album. Over time, the VIXX members disappeared until only Leo and Ravi remained, which made fans speculate that this meant another comeback for all six members. Then the VIXX LR video trailer was shown.

VIXX LR was confirmed by Jellyfish Entertainment as the first official VIXX unit of rapper Ravi and vocalist Leo. Their debut mini album Beautiful Liar was released on August 17, 2015. On the same day, VIXX LR held their first showcase for Beautiful Liar at Yes24 Muv Hall, Seoul in Mapo-gu. The duo began to be touted on August 18, and they had their first debut performance on the SBS MTV The Show.

VIXX LR debuted at number 2 on the Billboard World Albums and also at number 2 on the South Korean Gaon album chart. On September 1, VIXX LR held their first music concert since their debut on the SBS MTV The Show with 9,464 votes, so they have the second largest result for its entire full-fledged VIXX group with “Error”. On September 4, 2015, VIXX LR completed their three-week ad cycle for Beautiful Liar at Music Bank in KBS2 with a farewell stage play.

VIXX LR “Beautiful Liar” was nominated for two awards at the 2015 Mnet Asian Music Awards for Best Collaboration and for Best Song of the Year. In January 2016, VIXX LR held demonstrations in Nagoya, Tokyo, and Osaka as part of their first Beautiful Liar concert in Japan.
