Fener, Lea

Lea Fener was born on October 15, 1981 in Toulouse , France, and raised in a traveling theater family. She studied at the Lyceum of Gabriel Gusto ( Fr. Lycée Gabriel-Guist'hau ) in Nantes and at the Higher National Institute of Performing Arts and Speech Technology ( Fr. Institut national supérieur des arts du spectacle et des techniques de diffusion, INSAS ), then studied Screenwriting at the La Fémis Film School, which she graduated in 2006. During her studies, Fener interned at the cinema center in Bamako and Cambodia ^[1] .

Between 2000 and 2007, Lea Fener wrote and directed several short films, among which “Except Silence” ( French Sauf le Silence ) was presented at various film festivals, including the International Short Film Festival in Clermont-Ferrand and the World Film Festival short films in Toronto ^[2] .

In 2009, Fener made her full-length debut, “ We only need to stand a day ... ” with Farida Rahuaj, Reda Kateb and Pauline Etienne in the lead roles. The film received the Louis Delluc Prize and was nominated for the Cesar Film Award as the best debut film of 2009.

The second full-length directorial work of Lea Fener “The Eaters ” was marked by a number of festival film awards and in December 2016 was nominated in three categories for the 2017 Lumiere Prize ^[3] .
