Breeding

Breeding with guard, from the presidential regiment , Moscow .

Reconnaissance - a soldier from among the personnel of the guard , appointed to put the guards subordinate to him as sentries at the posts , as well as to change them and to verify the performance of their duties during the guard duty [1] .

“Breeding”, in the slang of the military , was called a ladle .

In the USSR

In the Armed Forces of the USSR, the breeder obeyed the guard commander with his assistant, carried out only their orders and was appointed from among sergeants, foremen, senior sailors or experienced and trained soldiers of ordinary rank [2] . The scope of his duties and rights was regulated by the provisions of the Charter of the garrison and guard service of the USSR Armed Forces [2] .

The number of breeders within the framework of one guard was determined depending on the number of posts and their location so that each breeder should put up no more than five sentries, and the entire procedure for changing them (from following to the post to returning to the guardhouse) did not take more than one hour [2] . When appointing several breeding men to the guard, they are called: “first breeding”, “second breeding” and so on [3] . If one post is guarded by a guard, a breeder is not appointed, his duties are performed by the head of the guard [3] .
