Biography
Anna Magdalena is the daughter of Christian I of the Palatinate-Birkenfeld-Bischweiler (1598-1654) and his wife Magdalena Catherine of the Palatinate-Zweibrucken (1606-1648).
On October 18, 1659, Anna Magdalena married the titular count Johann Reinhard II of Hanau-Lichtenberg (1628–1666). Five children were born in this marriage:
- Johann Magdalena (1660-1715), married to Count Johann Karl Augustus Leiningen-Daxburg-Heidesheim (1662-1698).
- Louise Sophia (1662-1751), married to Count Frederick Ludwig Nassau of Otweiler (1651-1728)
- Francis Albertina (1663-1736)
- Philip Reinhard (1664-1712)
- Johann Reinhard III (1665-1736).
After the death of her husband, Anna Magdalena widowed in the Babenhausen Palace and was the guardian of her children, along with her brother Christian II, the Palatinate-Zweibrucken-Birkenfeldsky . Her children were supposed to inherit power in the county of Ghana , since the reigning count Friedrich Casimir of Ganaus had no heirs. When the actions of Friedrich Casimir threatened the integrity of the inheritance, Anna Magdalena and her brother, with the knowledge of the Holy Roman Emperor Leopold I, imposed compulsory control in the county.
Anna Magdalena was buried in the tomb of the Church of St. John in Hanau. During the Second World War, the crypt was completely destroyed. The tomb of Anna Magdalena has survived and is currently stored in the Khanausky historical museum .
