History
In 1849, at the gathering of the first settlers of the village of Repair, a rural community was created and it was decided to build a chapel in the village. After obtaining permission from the Astrakhan Spiritual Consistory, in 1850 the chapel was built and consecrated in honor of the Protection of the Mother of God. In September 1851, the chapel burned down.
At the end of 1851 in the village it was decided to build a new campus-ulus church (mobile). In 1852, a prayer house was built and opened near the burnt chapel in the village of Remontnaya. In 1853, the church was consecrated by priest Vasily Diligensky.
Three years later, the church was transferred to the village of Torgovaya, and the inhabitants of the village of Repair, decided to build another church. The Church of the Intercession of the Mother of God was built in the late 50s - early 60s of the XIX century. In the church, belonging to the second category, the state consisted of a priest, deacon and psalm-reader. In October 1873, the first parish school in the district was opened at the Intercession Church.
In 1891, near the Intercession Church, the building of the male parish school was built and consecrated. Next to the men's school in 1892, the building of the women's parochial school was built, and there was a folk rural school.
In 1895, repairs were carried out in the Intercession Church, and chapels were added to it. Since that time, the Intercession Church, in addition to the main throne in the name of the Icon of the Protection of the Mother of God, had chapels: the north - in the name of the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Tsar Constantine and the Equal-to-the-Apostles Tsarina Helena and the south - in the name of St. Mitrofan of Voronezh. The chapels of the church were consecrated by priest John Nigrovsky. Liturgical vessels, candle holders, chandeliers and lamps were bought for the church on the donations of the parishioners. Icons for the church were written by the Moscow master Semyon Shvarev.
In 1920, the Autonomous Oblast of the Kalmyk people was proclaimed in the Russian state, where the village of Remontnoy left. In June 1921, Repair was given the status of a city. The local government body became the Repairnensky City Council. In 1923, Remontnoe was again renamed the village, which became a volost and district center.
During the years of Soviet power, persecution of the church began, but the Intercession Church continued to function. Divine services continued until 1934, after which the church was officially closed. In 1936, the church building was destroyed. In its place was built cafe "Spark". In memory of the destroyed church in the village near the house of culture, a memorial arch with a gilded dome and an Orthodox cross was installed [1] .
