It is the administrative center of the Asni district and the Asni commune. There are no data on the population of Asni. According to the 2014 census of Morocco, the population of Asni is 21 244 inhabitants, and the region of Asni is 59 881 inhabitants [3] .

The city is located on the High Atlas ridge at an altitude of 1,185 meters above sea level.
The mountain road connects this settlement with the villages of Ikkis and Imlil (Asni commune), a bus passes several times a week along it.
