Mazzalithis, Valentine

Valentin Ernestovich Mazzalitis ( Latvian; Valentīns Mazzālītis ; February 9, 1930 , Rutsava - April 5, 2017 ) is a Soviet and Latvian track and field coach specializing in javelin throwing . The most famous pupils are Olympic champion Janis Lusis and Inese Jaunzeme .

Born February 9, 1930 in Rucava. In 1954 he graduated from the Latvian Sports Pedagogical Academy. Coach of the USSR national team in javelin throwing at the 1964, 1968, 1972 Olympic Games. In 1968 he was awarded the title of Honored Trainer of the USSR . From 1973 to 1978, he was the head of the department of the Latvian Sports Pedagogical Academy. From 1990 to 2000 he worked as a methodologist and teacher at the Latvian Spear throwing center. Laureate of the competition "The best athlete in Latvia" in the nomination "For many years of contribution to Latvian sport" (2005) [1]
