Biography
Born in Saratov . From 1932 to 1937 he was a student of the Faculty of Biology of Moscow State University . Member of World War II . He went to the front in September 1942 and ended the war in September 1945. He was awarded the Order of the Red Star and medals [2] .
In 1942 he defended his thesis on "Morphology and changes in the proportions of the skeleton of the forelimbs in ontogenesis in humans and some mammals."
From 1945 to 1958 he was a senior researcher at the Institute of Ethnography of the USSR Academy of Sciences in Leningrad.
Since 1958, Director of the Research Institute and Museum of Anthropology of Moscow State University. Also since 1976, head of the Department of Anthropology, Faculty of Biology, Moscow State University.
In 1967 he defended his doctoral dissertation on the theme "Stages and intrastadial differentiation in human evolution."
Doctor of Biological Sciences (1968), Professor (1968). Member of many international congresses.
Value
- The main works are devoted to the problems of human evolution , paleoanthropology and racogenesis .
- He first gave an anthropological and philosophical interpretation of Australopithecus as the initial stage of anthropogenesis .
- He worked out the problem of Neanderthals , in particular their “classical” forms.
