Britannia ( German: Britanniahütte , Eng. Britannia Hut ) - a mountain shelter (hut, chalet) of the [1] , located south of the municipality of Saas-Almagell in the canton of Valais .
The shelter is located at an altitude of 3030 meters above sea level, at the foot of the Allalinhorn peak near the glacier in the Mischabel mountain range. It can be easily reached from the Felskinn Station leading to the Glacier.

History and Activities
This alpine shelter was officially opened on August 17, 1912, when the keys to the shelter were handed to the Swiss Alpine Club by the vice president of the Association of British Members of the Swiss Alpine Club ( ABMSAC , founded in 1909). The Britannia Shelter was presented to the Swiss Club in gratitude for the hospitality extended to the British climbers and was supported by contributions from members of the ABMSAC club. [2]
Electricity in the shelter is produced by solar panels; for collecting rain and melt water there is a special tank with a capacity of 16,000 liters. Waste activities of the shelter are taken by helicopter to the valley.
