Early life and biography
Khanna was born and raised in Mumbai . His father is actor and politician Vinod Khanna , his mother is ex-model Gitanjali Taleyarhan, and his younger brother is Akshay Khanna , also an actor.
Khanna studied at the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute and the New York School of Fine Arts .
Career
Rahul began his career as a VJ (video jockey) on MTV Asia in 1994. During his 4-year stay on the channel, he enjoyed great popularity, a huge number of fans across Asia and constantly appeared in the media.
He made his debut in Deepa Mehta 's feature film Earth , along with Aamir Khan . His acting has earned him several awards, including the Filmfare Award for best male debut . He later played in Mehta's film " Bollywood / Hollywood " (2003). He also appeared in the movie Sid, Wake Up! »With Ranbir Kapoor and Konkona Saint Sharma.
Films in which Rakhul played, including “The Fight” and “Enemies in Love,” were shot in Hindi. The film “The Imperial Club ” with Kevin Klein in the title role became the foreign debut for Rakhul.
Theater
- “ East is East ”, 1999. In New York, the production of Ayub Khan-Din was directed by Scott Elliott ( World Map ) and Khan appeared as Tarik, a naughty, idler, son of a Pakistani and an Englishwoman. This image brought him recognition both by the public and critics.
Television
- From 1994 to 1998, he was seen on MTV Asia .
- From 1999 to 2001, he was the host of the Asian Variety Show on the AVS TV Network
- In 2006, he hosted the Discovery Week television show on the Discovery Channel.
Khanna also hosted numerous events, such as: Screening of the International Film Academy of India , Screen Awards , Stardust Magazine Awards , Miss India National Beauty Contest, Naomi Campbell Fashion Show at Mumbai Fashion Week, Indian Edition GQ Award Men of the Year Awards 2009 & 2010, teachers rewarded for their achievements in 2008 and 2010, Indian International Film Festival 2011, Hall of Fame Awards of Hello Magazine 2011 and Entrepreneur of the Year Ernst & Young 2012.
Khanna also appeared at PETA in India, where he campaigned for the protection of elephants and birds.
Writing
Khanna has a signature humorous writing style. In addition to what he writes for his blog [2] , parts of his articles and essays have been published in a number of popular newspapers, magazines, and websites, including Indian versions of Harper's Bazaar , Vogue, Cosmopolitan , Elle, GQ , Marie Claire , The Times of India , Deccan Herald and The Huffington Post .
