Biography
Early years
Gordeeva insists that she is Katerina, and not Catherine, because it is this name that is written in her passport. According to her, this name was chosen because her family liked to read “ Walking through the agony ” of Alexei Tolstoy [1] .
Katerina Gordeeva graduated with a medal from Mathematics School No. 5 (now the Fifth Grammar School) in Rostov-on-Don . But Gordeeva began her journalistic activities even before leaving school. Dreaming of being a pediatric surgeon [2] , Kateryna, from the age of 12, has been working as a nurse during the summer holidays, first in the pregnancy pathology department of the 20th city hospital in Rostov-on-Don, and then in the neonatal pathology department of the Rostov Research Institute of Nuclear Medicine. The 13-year-old Gordeeva wrote to the newspaper " Evening Rostov " about what she saw in the department where the newborn refuseniks were lying [3] . Soon she was offered to become a correspondent for the first private publication in Rostov-on-Don, the business weekly City N [4] .
At the same time, Gordeeva begins to collaborate with the youth artel of the Rostov Television (MART), working with Kirill Serebrennikov and Alexander Rastorguev .
In 1993, she made an attempt to study at the Sorbonne Faculty for Foreigners in Paris, but, according to her, “the changes taking place in the Homeland forced to return” [5] .
In 1994, he studied at the Rostov State University at the Faculty of Philology and Journalism.
In 1999 she graduated from the Faculty of Journalism of Moscow State University named after MV Lomonosov [6] [7] . In 2005, she additionally received a degree in art history from the Leonardo da Vinci School ( Italy ) [6] .
Career
1994-2012
In 1994, at the invitation of the leadership of the VID Gordeev television company, he was in Moscow [6] . From 1995 to 1996, she worked as an editor, correspondent and author of the theme program [1] . She also worked in the program “ Sight ” [8] .
In 1997 - the author of the program “Born from Childhood” ( NTV , TV Center ) [8] .
From 1997 to 1999, she worked as a parliamentary correspondent for the final analytical program, “Seventh Day” on the TV Center channel under the leadership of Leo Bruni [9] .
In 2001, together with the team of Evgeny Kiselyov , who left after the NTV dispersal, Katerina Gordeeva appeared on TV-6 channel, where she worked in parallel with the main work in the Russian BBC service [10] under the pseudonym Maria Rasskazova.
Gordeeva began working in the frame and under her own name (simultaneously with her editorial work) in June 2002, when the new TVS channel was aired on the sixth button [11] . It was founded by journalists who previously worked on NTV and TV-6.
After the closure of the TVS in June 2003, at the invitation of the well-known correspondent and TV presenter Alexei Pivovarov, Katerina Gordeeva transferred to work in the NTV newsroom [6] [9] . At first, Gordeeva worked behind the scenes on NTV - she wrote eyeliners, agreed on the filming of stories, and helped correspondents to edit stories [9] . She worked as the editor of the evening TV program " Country and World " with Aset Vatsueva and Alexey Pivovarov.
Since 2003 [12] she worked as a correspondent for the NTV Information Service (the “ Today ” [13] [14] , “Country and World”, “Personal Contribution” [15] and “ Last Day ” programs). Tatyana Mitkova suggested she become a correspondent [9] .
In 2005, Katerina Gordeeva made the documentary “Rublevsky Wives” about the life of women behind high fences of dachas on Rublevskoye Shosse [16] . Oksana Robsky , author of the novel Casual , became its main character. After the success of the film, NTV management invited Robsky to conduct a daily program for you, which did not last very long on air.
In 2006, after the death of Ilya Zimin , Nikolai Kartozia called Gordeev to the newly created NTV Prime Broadcasting Directorate. Since the fall of 2006, she has become a special correspondent for the Prime Broadcasting Directorate and a regular contributor to the Profession Reporter program [17] . In November of the same year, a film concert “Forbidden Songs - 2” was released on NTV (hosted by Sergei Shnurov and Joseph Kobzon ), the screenwriter of which was Gordeeva [18] .
The most high-profile films of the Profession Reporter cycle by Gordeeva's authorship were Life on Loans (2005) - an attempt to rehabilitate Russian transplantologists, whose work was virtually paralyzed due to the scandal surrounding the 20th Moscow city hospital provoked by a report by Arkady Mamontov [19] ; “Knocking on Heaven” (2006, co-authored with Vadim Takmenev ); “Saddam. Invitation to the execution ”(2007) - report on the execution of Saddam Hussein ; “Good People” (2007) - the first federal charity research on federal TV; “Exploded Route” (2007) - report on the terrorist attack in Togliatti ; “Finding the Extreme” (2008) - about people who are “made” responsible; “Leaving, turn off the light” (2009) - the first film on palliative medicine on federal TV; Nevsky (2009) - report on the collapse of the Nevsky Express ; “We Are Not Vegetables” (2010) - a study of protest sentiments in Russia [20] ; Generation Zero (2010) is the first in the history of Russian federal TV research on the generation born and raised after perestroika . In 2010, she also released her documentary about the beating of Oleg Kashin in the program “Profession - Reporter” [21] .
From 2008 to 2009, he was the author and host of the project “Russians do not give up!” On NTV [22] [23] [24] . In September 2011, she completely conducted one of the NTVshniki program releases instead of Anton Khrekov [25] . At the same time, she worked as a correspondent in Vadim Takmenev's program “ Central Television ” [26] .
In parallel with working on NTV from November 9, 2010 to March 30, 2011, along with Anton Khrekov, she conducted the Prime Time morning news program on Silver Rain radio station [27] .
In 2012, Katerina Gordeeva, together with producer Sofia Gudkova and director Sergey Ivanov, shoots a three-part documentary project “To defeat cancer” [28] , in which famous people faced with the disease take part: Mikhail Gorbachev , Lyudmila Ulitskaya , Emanuel Vitorgan , Laima Vaikule , Mari Fredrickson , as well as leading Russian and world oncologists . According to television critics [29] , “To defeat cancer” is the first project in the history of Russian TV, reliably and piercingly, but at the same time accurately, documentarily and scientifically telling about a disease that, in one way or another, affected every person on the planet [30 ] . The motto of the project is “To defeat cancer means to conquer fear. You have the right to know. ” According to the author [31] , in the first place, the project was educational in nature, with the goal of destroying the usual myths and stereotypes about the disease. Defeat Cancer was awarded the Laurel Branch as the best educational film.
The project “To defeat cancer” was aired by NTV at the end of March 2012 [32] . In April, Katerina Gordeeva left the TV channel [33] in protest against the demonstration on the channel of the film “ Anatomy of the Protest ” produced by the Legal Broadcasting Directorate and against the dismissal of her colleagues, including the dismissal of Nikolai Kartozia [34] [35] .
2012 — Present
Since May 2012, at the invitation of Svetlana Mironyuk, Katerina Gordeeva worked at RIA Novosti , participated in the creation of the documentary directorate and its projects: “Open Screening” and “Open Lecture”.
In December 2012, the premiere of the film “Girls Fly”, filmed by Gordeeva in collaboration with director Dmitry Altshuler-Kurchatov. The film is dedicated to the problems of teenage leisure in Russia. The film received a special UNESCO prize. On December 20 of that year, Gordeeva became the host of the “Last Show on Earth” on the topic of the upcoming end of the world , aired on TV-3 [36] .
In May 2013, Zakharov Publishing House publishes Katerina Gordeeva’s book “Defeating Cancer”. The book comes out with a circulation of 10 thousand copies. Its subtitle: “How to cope with despair and find the strength in yourself to fight the disease” [37] . June 1, 2013 was one of the leading special telethon for Children's Day “Farewell, orphanage!” On the Dozhd TV channel (along with Ksenia Turkova , Elena Pogrebizhskaya and Ekaterina Shergova) [38] .
In December 2013, in connection with the liquidation of RIA Novosti and its transformation into the state agency Russia Today , Gordeeva left the agency.
In January 2014, Channel Two released the two-part documentary film Voices [39] [40] - a detailed and accurate immersion, a piercing and reliable story about the children of besieged Leningrad [41] , which Katerina Gordeeva co-authored with director Sergei Nurmamed . In February of the same year, her author talk show “Life as a Miracle” was broadcast on TV-3 [42] .
In 2015, commissioned by Channel One, co-authored by directors Sergey Nurmamed and Dmitry Altshuler-Kurchatov, Gordeeva made the film Joseph’s Children [43] , which was supposed to be aired on the anniversary of the poet Joseph Brodsky . However, the film was not shown on the air. The "Children of Joseph" show was a special event of the festivals of the "Pacific Median" [44] and " Artdocfest ."
In 2015, Katerina Gordeeva received a residence permit in Latvia on the basis of the purchase of a plot of land in Amatciems , where she intends to put up a house [45] .
From January to December 2016, Katerina Gordeeva collaborated with the publication Meduza [46] . Currently, she collaborates with the colta.ru portal, the publication Pravmir, among her most notable works as an interviewer in recent times - an interview with widow Sergei Bodrov, Jr. Svetlana, recorded fifteen years after the tragic death of the actor [47] .
In October 2017, the premiere of the documentary Gordeeva, co-authored with Leonid Parfyonov , “#YAPROCHLA” took place. The film tells about several girls who have experienced breast cancer and how important the early diagnosis of this disease is [48] .
In August 2018, co-authored with journalist Roman Super, she directed the documentary Theatrical Case about the case of the Seventh Studio and Kirill Serebrennikov. The film was released on YouTube, collecting more than 300 thousand views.
On October 8, 2018, Katerina Gordeeva, together with a group of Russian women, visited the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh at the invitation of the wife of the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan Anna Hakobyan [49] [50] . October 15, 2018 declared persona non grata in Azerbaijan “for flagrant violation of the legislation of the republic - illegal visit to the occupied territories of Azerbaijan” [51] .
At the end of 2018, in collaboration with the actress and co-founder of Give Life , Chulpan Khamatova published the book Time to Break the Ice (edited by Elena Shubina, 2018 ISBN 978-5-17-107934-5 )
Katerina Gordeeva is a trustee of the Give Life and MyMio charity foundations, and a member of the board of the House with a Lighthouse children's hospice. He speaks English, French and Italian.
Public position
In December 2011, she signed an appeal by cultural and media figures in which they urged Muscovites to go to a rally on Sakharov Avenue on December 24 [52] .
In August 2017, along with several other figures of Russian culture, she signed guarantees for her former colleague Kirill Serebrennikov, who is under investigation [53] .
Personal life
In 2014, Katerina Gordeeva married the founder of the Open Library project Nikolai Solodnikov. The couple brings up four children [54] : Alexander (2010), George (2011) [55] , Jacob (2015) and Elizabeth (2016).
