Description
Body length from 25 to 42 mm. The back of the body is metallic shiny, green. Males with wrinkled elytra and long legs. They are found in moist and dry tropical forests at altitudes from 180 to 1000 m from February to May. Beetles are associated with plants such as buddleya ( norinaceous ), Gynerium sagittatum ( Poaceae ), Senna reticulata and light-headed leucene ( legumes ). Larvae and pupae are similar to the genus Pelidnota [3] [4] .
South American Indians (the Jivaro , Shuar, and Sequoia tribes) use the elytra, pronotum, legs, or the entire beetles as ornaments for making necklaces and headwear (Ratcliffe 2006, Ratcliffe et al. 2015, Le Tirant and Limoges 2016) [5] [6 ] [6 ] ] [7] .
