Bussiu Castle, owned by Pierre de Henin, was surrendered to the French on May 3, 1478 by a traitor named Jean Gossard, who commanded the garrison, and transferred to the service of the enemy [1] [10] .
At the end of the same month, Count de Romon and Philippe de Ravenstein headed 4 thousand. German troops went on the counterattack. The artillery made a gap in the fortress wall of Boussoux, and the French surrendered after two to three days of resistance. Their commander Earl of Saint-Marcel and the remnants of the garrison were taken prisoners to Mons . The Germans refused to return Bussia to their rightful owner, claiming that they became his masters by right of conquest, and Pierre de Henin had to pay a significant ransom for his castle [1] [11] .
