Dipold VII von Foburg

Dipold VII (d. December 26, 1225) is the Margrave of Phoburg from 1205 from the genus Dipoldinger-Rapotonides.

Born 1160/1165. The son of either Dipold VI (d. 1181/1185), or his older brother Bertold I (d. 1182), the grandson of Dipold III .

In 1191 he received the county of Acherra from the kingdom of Naples from Emperor Henry VII (in 1220 Tommaso I d'Aquino was already count of Acherra). Perhaps historians confused him with Dipold von Schweinspeunt (Diepold von Schweinspeunt) (d. 1221), the Count of Acherra and the Duke of Spoleto.

Since 1205, Margrave of Faubourg (inherited by Bertold III). At the same time, the Margafism Ham ceded to Ludwig of Bavaria .

First wife - origin is not established. From her two are not known by the name of their daughter:

• one - from 1199 married to Guglielmo di Caserta;
• the other is the wife of Count Jacopo de Sanseverino.

The second wife is Mechtilda von Wasserburg, widow of Frederick II Count Von Hohenburg, daughter of Dietrich, Count von Wasserburg-Fichtenstein, heiress of Senor Hohenburg. From her 6 children:

• Bertold III (d. February 2, 1256 / September 1257) - Count Ascoli (1251), regent of the Sicilian kingdom (1254-1256).
• Dipold VIII (killed 1258/1259), Margrave von Hohenburg.
• Otton (died in prison on February 2, 1256/21 March 1258), Margrave von Hohenburg (1249), Count of Catanzaro, from 1254 Count of Chieti.
• Ludwig (died in prison on February 2, 1256/21 March 1258), Count of Kotrone.
• Richitz (d. August 10, 1266), husband (1237) - Count Henry I von Ortenberg.
• Hadwig (d. June 18, 1265), husband - Marquad I von Arnsberg.

After the death of the childless sons of Dipold VII and Mehtilda, Hohenburg went to the bishops of Regensburg, Fauburg to the dukes of Bavaria (1257-1259).
