The song was very popular in Europe. In Spain, Switzerland, Germany, France and Italy, she visited the 1st place of the charts, in the UK in June 1988 reached the 3rd place.
In Australia, the song reached number 11 in 1988.
Music video
Part of its success, the song owes a video clip made at the Florida Hotel in the resort town of Jesolo , Italy. In the video clip, Sabrina splashes in the pool, and her swimsuit gradually slides, exposing parts of the nipples [1] . This clip and now remains one of the most downloaded on the Internet [2] .
In an interview given to her at the end of 1988 by Nino Firetto on the Music Box program on Super Channel , Sabrina explained that the video for the song “Boys” was originally shot as a segment for one of the television magazines (TV shows) on Italian television. This is exactly what Sabrina explained why the style clip looked more like Italian television shows of the time (overly sexy) than a standard video clip.
