Geographical position
Shamsa is located in the northeast of Badakhshan, in the highlands, on the left bank of the Vahandarya river, near the confluence of the small river Darayi-Shamsa, at a distance of about 223 kilometers east of the city of Faizabad , the administrative center of Vilayat. The absolute height is 3211 meters above sea level [1] . The nearest settlements are the village of Yur (upstream of the Wahandarya), the village of Sanin (downstream of the Wahandarya).
