Beginning of the path
Mikhail Urzhumtsev was born in Leningrad on May 16, 1944 in an acting family: his grandmother Maria Filippova-Zaretskaya and grandfather Arkady Kastalsky-Arbelov are artists of the 2nd studio of the Moscow Art Theater , his mother is an actress of the St. Petersburg Theater. Kazansky invited him to star in his “Old Man Hottabych,” but he did not pass the test. In 1963, Mikhail Urzhumtsev entered the Leningrad Institute of Theater, Music and Cinematography (course of Z. Ya. Korogodsky ), became the best artist of the course. LGITMiK graduated in 1967. In the same year, at the Lenfilm studio, Urzhumtseva was noticed by Gennady Poloka , immediately proposing a role in “Intervention” . This work laid the foundation for the friendship of the director and artist.
Theater
Since 1968, Mikhail Urzhumtsev - artist of the Murmansk Theater of the Northern Fleet . For 2 years in this theater he played many roles: vibrant and diverse. But longing for his native Leningrad did not allow him to work further. In 1971, the artist returned to his hometown and joined the troupe of the Theater. Cinema
