Sword of Victory ( Thai พระแสง ขรรค์ ชัยศรี , Phra Saeng Khan Chaiyasi) - one of the royal regalia of Thailand , personifying the military power and strength of the monarch. The sword has a hilt 10 inches (25.4 cm) long and a blade 25 inches (64.5 cm) long. A sheathed sword has a total length of 40 inches (101 centimeters) and weighs 1.9 kg [1] . The gap between the blade and the hilt is decorated with gold inlay depicting the god Vishnu riding on horseback on Garuda .

The story of the sword is shrouded in myths and legends. According to one of them, in 1784, Cambodian fishermen caught this sword in Lake Tonle Sap and presented it to King Ang Yeng , who, in turn, decided to present the sword to his overlord King of Thailand, Rama I. According to legend, as soon as the sword was delivered to Bangkok , seven lightnings struck the city from seven different sides, hitting the city gates through which the sword was imported, and the main gate of the Grand Palace .

The name of the sword (Phra Sen Khan Chayashi) means “The Wisdom of the King” and serves as a reminder to the monarch that he should wisely rule his people. King Rama I's sword sheath was made of gold and encrusted with diamonds and precious stones. The sword is used during the coronation ceremony; the king receives the sword from the hands of the brahmin and ties it to his belt.
