Content

Biography

He played for the team "Vasash" and "Meteor" from Budapest, in the national team since 1955. He was considered one of the most talented fencers of the Hungarian national team thanks to the brilliant technique of attack and defense. At the age of 20, in 1957, he won his first world champion title out of four, three years later, he won the team competition at the Olympics in Rome. In 1962, he won the individual championship of the World Championship, but his career was interrupted in 1964 after a serious car accident. In 1966, he won the last world champion title with the national team and then left the team, completing his final career in 1971. Later he worked as a coach of national teams of Chile (1973), Greece (1978) and Italy (early 1980s).
