Ou Virak ( Khmer. អ៊ូ វី រៈ ; born January 7, 1976 ) is a Cambodian public figure and human rights activist , president of the Cambodian Center for Human Rights (since 2007), founder of the Alliance for Freedom of Speech in Cambodia. Winner of the Reebok Human Rights Award for Human Rights (2007).

Biography
Ou Virac was born on January 7, 1976 in Cambodia ( Democratic Kampuchea ). The first years of his life coincided with the rule of the Khmer Rouge , pursuing a policy of terror and genocide . Virac’s father, a Republican army personnel officer, Lon Nola , was killed by the Polpot troops before his birth. Virac lived with his mother and four older brothers. After the start of the Vietnamese invasion, their family fled to camps on the border with Thailand. At the age of 13, Virac received refugee status and emigrated to the United States .
He graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in Fresno , California . He studied economics at the University of California . As a student, he led the National Association of Cambodian Students.
Upon returning to Cambodia, he became a professor of economics at Cambodian University of Pannasastra, Phnom Penh. Joined the Cambodian Center for Human Rights, in 2007 became its president. In 2007, he won the Reebok Human Rights Award for Human Rights.
