Adam Yakubovich from Kotra (? - 1517 ) - writer, secretary of the office of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania ( 1492 - 1511 ), Vilnius Canon ( 1508 - 1516 ).
Biography
Not of noble origin (honorabilis), called himself Litvin, was fluent in Russian writing.
His father Yakub was a clerk of the office of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania , mentioned in 1449 - 1466 .
Adam received his primary education at Vilna Cathedral School.
He studied at the University of Cracow for more than ten years ( 1478 - 1489 ) at the expense of Prince Andrei Svirsky.
In 1482 he became a bachelor, in 1488 - a master. In the winter of the 1488/1489 academic year he studied Horace .
After returning to Vilna, he worked in 1492 in the office as a clerk (notary).
In 1494 , he twice participated in embassies in Moscow on the preservation of the Orthodox faith of Elena Ivanovna , the future wife of Grand Duke Alexander Yagellonchik .
In 1496 , Mr .. participated in the embassy in Krakow in the matter of property support of Prince Sigismund Kazimirovich.
In Piotrków, during the Polish-Lithuanian Union, he prepared the Union Act 1499 (Latin version), which contains the following postscript: "Adam Yakubovich wrote from Kotra . "

Since 1506 - rector of the church in Semelishki.
Under Sigismund I the Old, in 1508 he was appointed Vilnius Canon. In 1510 it is referred to as " venerabilis Adam Jakubowicz de Kotra, Vilnensis et Sandomir eccl. Canonikus ". Since 1514 - official Vilensky. The last time in the Vilnius chapter was the last time was 21.12. 1516 .
