Biography
After graduation, he worked at the Red Ceramics plant (now - Borovichi Refractories Plant OJSC) in the Central Mechanical Workshops. At the same time, he played in the Metallurg football team Borovichi in the zonal championship of the RSFSR among physical education teams. In hockey, he played for Metallurg in republican competitions. Finalist of the RSFSR Cup of 1952.
In 1953, received an invitation from Spartak Moscow and Zenit A-class football teams and moved to the Leningrad club. He played 7 games that season, scored one goal - against the gates of Kharkov Lokomotiv (in a number of sources Sorokin’s participation in the match against Zalgiris on August 19, where he replaced), was not indicated. In 1954 he played only one match: on April 11 in the first round in the away game with the Kuibyshev “Wings of the Soviets” he was injured and was replaced.
In 1955-1957 he played in class “B” for “Metallurg” Zaporozhye . Since 1957, he played for “Wings of the Soviets” / “Labor” Voronezh , in 1960 he left with the team in class “A”, where he became the team captain, but after the first four rounds he was transferred to the double.
In 1962 he returned to Borovichi, where he became a playing coach for the football and hockey teams. In the seasons 1964/65, 1965/66 and 1969/70, he played with Metallurg in the second group of class “A” of the field hockey championship, scored 21 goals, becoming the team’s top scorer. As part of the football team, he became the champion of the Novgorod region in 1969. He worked in the team Electron "Novgorod" - in 1970 as a coach, in 1971 - as the head of the team, in 1972 - as the head coach.
Champion of the RSFSR (1960), bronze medalist of the 3rd summer Spartakiad of the Peoples of Russia (1959). Among the 33 best football players of the RSFSR (1959, 1960).
In Borovichi, mini-hockey and futsal tournaments are held in memory of Sorokin.
Family
Wife - Zoya Stepanovna, Honored Teacher of the RSFSR School. Son Sergei played for the hockey Metallurg, worked as a football coach, among the pupils - Sergey Egorov and Alexander Savin .
