Kantor, Karl Moiseevich

Karl Moiseyevich Kantor ( December 22, 1922 , Buenos Aires - February 9, 2008 , Moscow ) - Soviet and Russian philosopher and art critic . Candidate of Philosophy, an art theorist and one of the founders of Russian technical aesthetics and design theory.

Biography

Born into a family of emigrants from Russia, Moses Isaakovich Kantor , a professor of mineralogy at the University of La Plata and a Hispanic playwright, and Ida Isaakovna Bondareva , one of the founders of the Communist Party of Argentina (bore the name of his mother in childhood) [1] . With the appointment of M.I. Kantor, head of the Department of Mineralogy of the Timiryazev Agricultural Academy in July 1926 he returned with his parents to Moscow.

In 1941 - 1947 in the army, a participant in the Great Patriotic War.

In 1952 he graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov .

In 1953 - 1957 he taught philosophy at the Moscow Irrigation and Reclamation Institute .

In 1964 he defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of philosophical sciences on the topic "Theoretical problems of technical aesthetics" ( 1964 ) [2] .

One of the initiators of the creation ( 1957 ) and deputy chief editor of the magazine " Decorative Art of the USSR ", actually led the magazine.

In 1965 - 1967 he headed (concurrently) the laboratory of the theory of technical aesthetics of VNIITE . Since 1971 - at the Institute of the International Labor Movement of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (later renamed the Institute of Comparative Political Science, RAS ). After the abolition of the Institute of Comparative Political Science of the Russian Academy of Sciences as an independent scientific institution in 2005 , he was a leading researcher at the Institute of Sociology of the Russian Academy of Sciences .

He was buried in Moscow at the Vostryakovsky cemetery [3] .

Family

The eldest son of Karl Moiseevich, Vladimir (b. 1945 ) is a writer, literary critic and specialist in Russian philosophy, the youngest son Maxim (b. 1957 ) is a well-known artist and writer.

Sister - Lilya Guerrero , Argentine poetess, essayist, playwright, translator of modern Russian poetry (mainly V.V. Mayakovsky ) and prose into Spanish .
