Cosmic Girls ( 우주 소녀 , rum : WuJuSoNyeo, Chinese. 宇宙 少女 pin: Yǔzhòushàonǚ, also known as WJSN) is a South Korean-Chinese girl group formed in 2016 by Starship Entertainment and Yuehua Entertainment. The debut took place on February 25, 2016 with the mini-album “ Would You Like? " . The group consists of thirteen girls: Solya, Xuan, Bon, Exi, Subin, Luda, Davon, Inso, ChenSiao, Meichi, Yorym, Daion and Yongjon.

The participants are divided into four subgroups, each of which symbolizes a letter from the name - "WJSN": Wonder (Miracle), Joy (Joy), Sweet (Sweetness) and Natural (Naturalness). But from the moment Yongjon finished, all the sub-units of the group ceased to exist. On January 11, 2017, the agency announced the name of the Ujung Fan Club (Hangul: 우정, Friendliness).
Content
History
Preboot and Formation
The first Cosmic Girls member to appear in public was Solia, who starred in the 2012 Boyfriend music video “Janus” in 2012 . The second member presented to the public was Daeyon, a former contestant of the first season of the K-Pop Star show. The third member was Davon, who also participated in the K-pop Star, but in the second season. The fourth was Exi, who is a member of the South Korean women's rap contest Unpretty Rapstar 2. Next was Eunso, who starred in the Monsta X video “Rush”. [one]
On December 1, 2015, Starship Entertainment began publishing information about the new female group through several social platforms such as Twitter and Instagram, posting a heart-shaped image of the planet and orbit. On December 2, Starship Entertainment continued to tease the audience by posting another teaser photo with a silhouette looking at the orbital sign of the heart - this image became the official logo of WJSN. The first Wonder unit, consisting of ChenSiao, Bon, and Daoyong, was shown to the public on December 10th. [2] The second unit, called “Joy,” which included Yorym, Inso, and Xuani, was introduced on December 17th. [3] The third unit, called “Sweet,” was introduced on December 24th, and includes Sola, Exi and Subin. [4] And the final unit, "Natural," consisting of members from Meichi, Luda, and Davon, was revealed on December 31. [five]
On December 21, eight Cosmic Girls members (Solia, Exi, Daeyon, Bona, Inso, Davon, ChenSiao and Meichi) released Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You Christmas cover via JuseTV’s YouTube channel. [6]
2016: Debut with “ Would You Like?” And “The Secret”
On January 2, 2016, members of Xuan, Exi, Davon, Onso and Chen Xiao starred in the UNIQ New Year's video. On January 10, 2016, Starship Entertainment began releasing Play-File teasers. On January 20, 2016, in a February issue of Cosmopolitan Korea, in an article entitled “Next Body Icon, Cosmic Girls!”, Photos of Solya, Xuan, Bona, Exi, Inso and Chen Xiao were published. Onso February 1, 2016, Inso starred in the video for Yu Son “Anything,” along with Jongmin from Boyfriend and Kihen from Monsta X.
Cosmic Girls debuted on February 25, 2016 with the release of their mini-album, “ Would You Like?” " With the title tracks" Mo Mo Mo "and" Catch Me ". On February 24, a video clip for the song “Mo Mo Mo” was released, in which Lee Kwang-soo participated, and on March 9, the music video “Catch Me” was released. The band held their debut performance on February 25th at M! Countdown, performing with Catch Me and Mo Mo Mo. [7] [8]
On July 11, Starship Entertainment confirmed that Yongjong, an intern at the company and a member of the IOI temporary group, would join the group. Yongjong began to advance with the group in August. With its addition to the group, all sub-units of the group ceased to exist. In the same month, Solia, Exi, Subin, Inso, ChenSiao, Yorym and Daoyun teamed up with Monsta X to create the Y-Teen unit. This is a unit that will be promoted as CF models for KT tariff services, release of songs, music videos and various materials. [9] On August 17, Cosmic Girls released their second mini-album , The Secret , with all 13 members. The group began promoting the title track “Secret” on music shows [10] .
2017—2018: From. WJSN and the first full-length album
On January 4, 2017, Cosmic Girls released their third mini-album, entitled “ From. WJSN ” , consisting of six new songs, including the title track“ I Wish ”(cor .: 에게 닿기 를 를). [11] [12]
On January 11, Starship Entertainment introduced the name of the official Ujung fan club (Hangul: 우정), meaning “Friendship.” Ujung is also an acronym for Space Station.
Cosmic Girls held their first recital, Would You Like - Happy Moment , from May 19 to 20 at the Blue Square Samsung Card Hall. [13] [14]
Cosmic Girls' first full-length album, “ Happy Moment, ” was released on June 7, 2017 and contains a total of ten tracks, including the lead single, “Happy”. The album led the sales, taking first place in the daily and real Hanteo charts. [15]
On February 27, 2018, Cosmic Girls released their fourth mini-album , Dream Your Dream , which consists of six tracks, including the lead single, “Dreams Come True”. [16] Their return took place at Yes24 Concert Hall on the same day as the album's release. [17] [18]
On June 1, Cosmic Girls and Weki Meki formed a project team called WJMK and released the digital single Strong. [nineteen]
Two Chinese members Meichi and Xuan participated in the Chinese version of Produce 101's survival show in the first half of 2018. [20] [21] Meichi took first place, and Xuan second, they became members of the temporary group Rocket Girls 101 . They will advance with the group until 2020, and will temporarily interrupt activities in their group. [22] [23]
On September 19, Cosmic Girls returned with their fifth mini-album, “ WJ Please? " . Chinese members Cheng Xiao, Meichi and Xuan did not participate in the return of the group and Cosmic Girls continued their promotion as ten members. [24] Meichi and Xuan prepared for their debut with Rocket Girls 101, while Cheng Xiao starred in the dorm drama Legend of Awakening , a Chinese historical fantasy drama as the second lead actress, which became her acting debut. On October 2, the group received their first victory at The Show . [26] [27]
2019 - Present: WJ Stay? , For The Summer and Concert Tour
On January 8, 2019, Cosmic Girls released their sixth mini-album , WJ Stay? " , Which consists of seven tracks, including the lead single" La La Love ". [28] The group continued to promote as ten members, with Chinese members Cheng Xiao, Meichi, and Xuan being unable to participate in the return due to previous commitments. On April 23, Meichi’s first solo single, "<«> (JIANG) ", was released.
The second Cosmic Girls recital, Would You Stay - Secret Box , took place on March 2 and 3 in the Blue Square Imarket. On June 4, the release of the special summer album “ For the Summer ” with the title single “Boogie Up” took place. [thirty]
