Ratliff, Alfonso

In amateurs, Ratliff won several titles. In 1979, he won the Chicago Heavyweight District Park title.

In 1980, he won the Golden Gloves at the Chicago Heavyweight Championship.

In the same year, representing Chicago, he won the Long-distance Golden Gloves, defeating judges Mitch Green .

In April 1987, in the battle for the vacant Illinois state title, he defeated undefeated Craig Wodzinowski by the decision of the hospital of judges.
