Professional career
Carlos De Leon made his debut in the professional ring in August 1974 in the first heavyweight. On November 25, 1980, he knocked out Marvin Carnel (36-2-2) and won the WBC world title . In 1982, he lost the title to S.T. Gordon (21-5). In March 1983, he knocked out Olympic champion Leon Spinks (12-3-2). Then he took revenge from Gordon, and again won the WBC title . In 1988, he lost the unifying battle with WBA and IBF champion Evander Holyfield .
In 1995, he lost by knockout in the first round to South African Corrie Sanders .
In 1995, he spent the last fight in his career, in which he lost to the Dutchman Brian Nielsen by knockout in the third round.
