Biography
Celine Skyamma was born on November 12, 1978 in the city of Pontoise , department of Val d'Oise , France . She received a cinematographic education at the La Fémis film school, where Xavier Beauvois was her mentor.
In 2007, Skyamma made her debut with the feature film Water Lilies - the story of a 15-year-old girl in love with the same age as the captain of the synchronized swimming team . The film was selected for the Cannes Film Festival Special Look program, received the Louis Delluc Prize and three nominations for the César French national film award.
Skyamma's first short film , Pauline (2010), was created as part of a government campaign against homophobia .
The film “ Sorvanets ” (2011), which tells about the world of a 10-year-old girl Laura posing as a boy, received the Teddy prize at the Berlin International Film Festival and the Golden Duke Grand Prix of the Odessa Film Festival [4] .
The film " Girlhood ", staged in 2014, was selected as the film for the opening of the section "Two Weeks of Directors" at the 67th Cannes International Film Festival in 2014 [5] .
