Kozhakhmetov, Asylbek Bazarbaevich

Born on May 22, 1958 in the village of Antonovka, Volodarsky District of the Kokchetav Region (now the North Kazakhstan Region) in the family of the Bazarbai and Zeynep Kozhakhmetovykh. Bazarbay Kozhakhmetov (1924–1995) worked in the bread production system. Zeynep Kozhakhmetova (1924–1984) was an accountant.

Married Wife - Kozhakhmetova Maral Bulatovna (b. 1958). Daughter - Dina (b. 1982). Son - Timur (b. 1991).

• Graduated from the S.S. Kirov (1980, with honors), Faculty of Mechanics and Applied Mathematics.
• In 2010, he graduated with honors from the Kazakh Humanitarian Law University , a bachelor's degree in law.
• In 2011, he received a doctorate degree in business administration ^{[1] from the} Higher School of Economics (Moscow).
• From 1994 to 2012 he passed specialized management training in training centers in Germany, France, Great Britain, Belgium, Holland, Hungary, Estonia.
• In 2013, he completed a research and pedagogical internship program " Bolashak " at the Business School of the University of Berkeley. The topic of the internship is “Pedagogical diagnostics, evaluation and management of the quality of education”.

Almaty Management University

From 1980 to 1989, A. B. Kozhakhmetov taught at the Faculty of Mechanics and Applied Mathematics of the Kazakh State University. CM. Kirov. In 1989, he founded the Almaty School of Management, which in 1996 was transformed into the International Academy of Business, and since 2014 is known as Almaty Management University. Kozhakhmetov held the post of general director until 1996, then until 2002 (he began to actively engage in social activities that year) ^[2] and since 2009 he has been the president (rector).

Almaty Management University (ALMAUniversity) became the first entrepreneurial university in Kazakhstan, where applied research in the field of business is organized and business cases and start-ups are developed. The university also introduced an independent qualification assessment system in conjunction with employers and allowed students to take place at Big4 companies. Kozhakhmetov organized short-term courses and training programs for businessmen and entrepreneurs, and also opened opportunities for further training to those who received a basic, specialized education ^[3] . According to Kozhakhmetov, AMU should become a quality source of education in business, not inferior to foreign universities ^[4] .

Kozhakhmetov's main professional achievements are related to the field of business education: he has more than 50 publications in national and international journals on the development of management in Kazakhstan. Fluent in Kazakh, Russian and English languages.

05.06.2018 was elected President of the Association of Legal Entities "Civil Alliance of Kazakhstan" ^[8] .

He is the co-author of the book “Legends of Kazakhstani entrepreneurship”, published in 2016 ^[9] .

Kozhakhmetov became the founder of ANOOK (Association of Independent Public Organizations of Kazakhstan) in 1989, headed the constituent conference of the Social Democratic Party of Kazakhstan in 1991. It is in official opposition to the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan ^[10] : member of the Central Council of the Republican People’s Party of Kazakhstan in 1998–2001, previously collaborated with the “Democratic Choice of Kazakhstan” public movement, co-chaired the Forum of Democratic Forces and headed the presidiums of the political parties of the two parties - “ Democratic choice of Kazakhstan "and" Alga! " ^[11] . One of the leaders of the opposition block DVK-CPC ^[12] .

Since 2007, Kozhakhmetov - Chairman of the Republican Public Association "Shanyrak". From 2009 to 2011, he was Deputy Chairman of the Republican Public Council for the Review and Resolution of Social Conflicts of the Nur Otan Party; one of the developers of the strategy for combating corruption in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2011–2020 ^[13] . He stands for strengthening the position of the Kazakh language with the recognition of Russian as the second state ^[14] .

In the government of Almaty:

• Member of the Business Council under the Akimat of Almaty (2016).

In the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan:

On February 26, 2006, Kozhakhmetov participated in an unauthorized rally in Almaty in memory of Altynbek Sarsenbaiuly and was sentenced to 15 days in jail ^[15] .

In October 2008, Kozhakhmetov was charged with harboring a serious crime: he allegedly wrote letters to grant political asylum in Ukraine to several citizens of Kazakhstan suspected of a series of murders ^{[16] [17]} .
