Papua ( indon. Papua ) - one of the two autonomous provinces of Indonesia (the other is Western Papua ), which occupies most of the western half of New Guinea ; It was established in 2003 as a result of the Irian-Jai section. The administrative center is the city of Jayapura .

Geography
It borders in the east with Papua New Guinea . Rivers: Digul , mountains: Mandala .
Population
Papua is rich in minerals. In connection with the development of these riches, in recent years many Indonesians from other provinces of the country have moved to the province. Very often, new settlers look down on the local culture and consider the Papuans uncivilized and backward.
Some Papuans are unhappy that their homeland is part of Indonesia. Poorly organized paramilitary groups of the Papuans are fighting for the independence of Papua from Indonesia [2] .
