History
Don is known for its extensive fish stocks, among which bream fish stands out, which the locals call the Don Chebak. In honor of the Don fishing traditions in September, in the village of Starocherkasskaya, the holiday “Day of the Chebak” is held. Professional fishermen and amateurs, athletes, museum staff, creative teams, tourists and students take part in the celebration. During the holiday, you can visit the current exhibition, the subject of which is fishing on the Don and a fair organized for the sale of fish products. In 2009, the program of the celebration included fishing competitions and summing up their results, demonstration performances, an exhibition-fair of arts and crafts, a show program and a theatrical performance [2] .
