Karl Ludwig Ernst Kossak ( German: Karl Ludwig Ernst Kossak ; August 4, 1814 , Marienwerder - January 3, 1880 , Berlin ) is a German journalist and writer .
Biography
He studied philology and history in Berlin, also studied piano and music theory. At first he collaborated in musical periodicals, in particular as a leading Berlin correspondent for the Leipzig newspaper Signale für die musikalische Welt . In 1847, he founded his own magazine Zeitungshalle, in which, following the model of the French press, he introduced the feuilleton for the first time in Germany and became an influential critic. Then he released Feuerspritze, later Montagspost (until 1869 ). In the future, as a feuilletonist, he collaborated with other publications.
Creativity
A collection of his novels, Genre Scenes ( German: Genrebilder ), was published in 1839 in Berlin . His piquant feuilleton from Berlin life is collected in the collections of Berlin und die Berliner (Berlin, 1851 ), Aus dem Papierkorbe eines Journalisten ( ibid. , 1852 and 1859 ), Berliner Silhouetten ( ibid. , 1859 ), Berliner Federzeichnungen ”( ibid. , 6 volumes, 1859 - 1865 ; new edition of 1875 ). Accurate images of foreign life include Pariser Stereoskopen ( ibid. , 1855 ), Aus dem Wanderbuche eines litterarischen Handwerksburschen ( ibid. , 1856 , second edition of 1858 ), Historietten ( 1856 ; 2 ed. 1859 ), Badebilder (Leipzig, 1858 ), Schweizerfahrten (Leipzig, 1857 ), Reisehumoresken (Leipzig, 1862 , 2 volumes).
Based on the oral stories of the painter Eduard Hildebrandt, Kossak published his Reise um die Erde (Berlin, 1884 ).
