Konovitser (Efros) Evdokia Isaakovna ( 1861 - 1943 ) - the bride of Anton Pavlovich Chekhov . She studied with the sister of the writer Maria Pavlovna Chekhova in the teaching courses of Guerrier . Presumably was the prototype of the heroine of the story “Tina” by Susanna Moiseevna. “There was Efros now. I angered her by saying that Jewish youth is not worth a penny; offended and left, ” Chekhov wrote to his friend M. V. Kiseleva on the day of the release of“ Tina ”in“ New Time ”.

Being from a family of wealthy Jews, she refused to accept Orthodoxy, as a result of which the wedding with Chekhov became impossible. She later married a friend Chekhov, a lawyer and publisher Konovitser. After the revolution, emigrated with him to France. She was deported from a nursing home and died in 1943 in the Treblinka concentration camp .
