Chock - in a smooth - bore firearm - muzzle constriction (or socket ), necessary to reduce or increase the dispersion of the shot when fired.
The concepts of chok are conditional. In one case, the chok is defined as a choke of 1 mm, in the other - 0.75-1.0 mm, in the third - 0.9 mm. The magnitude of accuracy is not always determined only by the absolute value of the muzzle narrowing, but largely depends on the shape of the choke. It should be remembered that neither the designation of the muzzle constrictions, nor their absolute magnitudes will give an answer to the question of what accuracy this particular trunk can show. Only a test of a fight on a stand on a target can give an answer what kind of accuracy of a fight is provided by this or that choke with this or that fraction number.
There are also guns in which the choke has a cut - the so-called "paradoxes" .
Adjustable choke rifles are also found, albeit rarely.
Notches on the nozzles
- I Full choke - full choke 1.0 mm
- II Imp. Modified - weak choke 0.75 mm
- III Modified - pay 0.5 mm
- IIII Imp. Cylinder - weak pay 0.25 mm
- No notches Cylinder - 0.0 mm cylinder
Size of muzzle choke for a 12 gauge rifle
| drilling | size of narrowing, mm | taper size, inches |
|---|---|---|
| trumpet | extension 0.25 | extension .005 |
| cylinder | 0.00 | .005 |
| pressure cylinder | 0.12 | .010 |
| weak payday | 0.25 | .015 |
| payday | 0.50 | .020 |
| enhanced payday | 0.63 | .025 |
| weak choke | 0.76 | .030 |
| choke | 0.89 | .035 |
| enhanced choke | 1.01 | .040 |
| pressure head | 1.14 | .045 |
Purpose of muzzle nozzles
- Weak payday or a cylinder with a pressure - narrowing to 0.25, ensures the accuracy of the battle 40-45% when firing with any numbers of the fraction and the grape shot . Can be used for shooting bullets of all types.
- Pay - narrowing to 0.5. Fight accuracy of 50-55%. Allows the use of shot and canister of all sizes and all types of bullets, but when equipping rounds with a round bullet, you must make sure that it passes through the muzzle freely. When firing a round bullet with corbels (“Satellite” bullet) or in a polyethylene container, the gap between the walls of the barrel and the body (not the corbel) of the bullet must be at least 0.5 mm. This condition should be observed when firing a round bullet from the barrel with any choke constrictions.
- The average chock or choke с - narrowing to 0.75. Allows you to get the accuracy of the battle 55-60%. As well as payday, suitable for shooting any shot, canister and bullets. The round bullet must pass freely through the muzzle.
- Full choke - narrowing to 1. The accuracy of the battle with medium and small fraction numbers reaches 60-70%. Indicators of the battle with large fractions and grapeshot are unstable, when firing, the constancy of the battle from shot to shot decreases and the nature of the scree deteriorates (the “windows” between the pellets increase). It is possible to shoot with special bullets and a round bullet in compliance with all the above precautions.
- Strong choke - narrowing to 1.25. It is mainly used in sports weapons for shooting with a shot no larger than No. 7 for long distances (second shot on a trench stand). Provides accuracy of combat up to 85%. Beats and grapeshot beats poorly. Shooting bullets is not allowed, as it can lead to inflation and rupture of the barrel.
- For shooting at a distance of 10–20 m in small fraction (mainly for sports shooting on a round stand), a hole is drilled with a socket, or rather, with predulnuyu expansion and subsequent muzzle constriction. This device as a result of gas breakthroughs in shotgun "projectile" provides a wide and even scree fraction .
- Chopped chokes (“ paradoxes ”) are intended for shooting by specially made bullets at a large beast up to 150 m.
