The song was performed by Brian May and Spike Eddie at a concert in memory of Freddie Mercury . He also recorded it on his solo album Back to the Light and released a song on the single. The song ranked fifth in the charts of England and the first in the Netherlands. In 1995, “Too Much Love Will Kill You” (with vocals by Freddie Mercury) was included on Made in Heaven . The song was also released on the single, but did not have much success.
In 1997, Brian May received for the song Ivor Novello (for the best lyrics and for the best music) . In 2003, at the concert "Pavarotti and Friends", the song was performed by a duet by Brian May and Luciano Pavarotti . The great tenor himself asked Brian to sing this song with him, and the Italian translation of the song for the maestro was written by Zucchero .
