High-Molecular Compounds is a Russian scientific journal publishing articles and fundamental reviews on research in the field of polymer science. It was established in 1959 by the USSR Academy of Sciences on the initiative of Academician V. A. Kargin , who became its first editor-in-chief. Subsequently, academicians S. S. Medvedev , V. V. Korshak , N. A. Plata and (from 2007 to the present) A. R. Khokhlov occupied this position.
Since 1967, the magazine has been divided into two series, “A” and “B”; the first of them published original completed studies and generalizations, descriptions of new methods and instruments for the study of polymers, reviews, chronicles, and personalities. In the second, short messages were published about new phenomena or patterns, as well as letters to the editor. For 1971, the monthly circulation was 2100 copies (series "A") and 1100 copies (series "B"). The magazine in the Soviet era was monthly.
Currently, the magazine is published in three series: Series A - “Physics of Polymers” (6 issues per year), Series “B” - “Chemistry of Polymers” (6 issues per year) and Series “C” - thematic issues (1 release per year).
The head of the editorial board is E. G. Gorshenina. The founders of the journal are the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Petrochemical Synthesis named after A.V. Topchieva RAS . Publisher - Federal State Unitary Enterprise Academic Publishing Center "Science" of the Federal Agency for Scientific Organizations . One of the first among Russian scientific publications, in 2008 the magazine introduced an online article submission system.
Articles published between 1959 and 2005 are freely available on the editorial site , later issues are available by subscription in the scientific electronic library e-LIBRARY.RU . Translated versions of the articles are published in English in the journal Polymer Science, which is also published in three series ( Series A , Series B , Series C ) by Pleiades Publishing Ltd , distributed by Springer and included in the international abstract databases and citation systems ( Web of Science , Scopus et al.).
