The Doppelmayr / Garaventa group was formed in 2002 when Doppelmayr from Wolfurt, Austria merged with Garaventa AG from Switzerland to become the world's largest manufacturer of cable cars.

History
The company Doppelmayr was founded in Austrian Wolfurt in 1892 and was originally called Konrad Doppelmayr & Sohn. In 1967, the director of the company was Arthur Doppelmayr, the grandson of the founder of the company - Konrad Doppelmayr - and the son of the Austrian businessman Emil Doppelmayr. Since holidays in the Alps were gaining popularity all over the world at that time, during the second half of the 20th century, Arthur managed to bring his cable car manufacturer to world leaders. In 1996, the holding company Doppelmayr acquired Von Roll, a Swiss manufacturer of gondolas and cable cars; in 2002, she also managed to acquire another Swiss company - CWA - specializing in the same field. The merger of Doppelmayr and Garaventa was publicly announced in 2001 - the merger was completed in 2002. In April 2011, the company was selected as one of the contractors for the construction of the London cable system [3] [4] .

As of the 2015/2016 fiscal year, the company had 834 million euros in annual turnover; its subsidiaries and / or representative offices existed in forty countries of the world. The company has 2673 employees worldwide: 1360 of them in Austria and 384 in Switzerland. More than a hundred students attended training or internships at the Doppelmayr Garaventa Group in Austria and Switzerland [5] .

Doppelmayr Seilbahnen
Doppelmayr Seilbahnen's main products include cable cars , gondolas and chair lifts, which are supplied to consumers under the Doppelmayr and Garaventa brands. The company has become a pioneer in the production of the 3S three-rope gondola in Kitzbühel (Austria), Koblenz ( Germany ) and Whistler-Blackcombe ( Canada ). It also introduces a number of innovative products on the market, such as heated lift seats.
Doppelmayr Transport Technology
Doppelmayr Transport Technology designs and markets cableway systems for moving materials. Initially, these systems were similar to conventional cable cars and chair lifts, but equipped with special load-bearing systems. At the beginning of the 21st century, Doppelmayr Transport Technology developed a special cableway for lifting goods called the RopeCon, a conveyor system that can transport materials over long distances. RopeCon systems can be found today in Papua New Guinea , Jamaica , Sudan , Switzerland and Austria.
Doppelmayr Cable Car
Doppelmayr Cable Car manufactures automated passenger transportation systems installed at airports and other elements of urban transport. In 1999, the first such system was commissioned at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Entertainment Complex in Las Vegas . Similar systems were installed at the airports of Toronto ( Canada ), Birmingham ( Great Britain ), Mexico City ( Mexico ), (USA). In 2018, a system of this kind was launched at Sheremetyevo Airport in Moscow .
CWA Constructions
CWA Constructions, based in Olten , Switzerland , produces gondola cabins and installations for moving people for the parent company Doppelmayr, as well as for a number of other companies in the industry.
SCADO
The Russian group of companies “SKADO” (Samara cable cars) has been a member of the Doppelmayr Garaventa Group since 1997 [6] . Together with other participants of Doppelmayr Garaventa, SKADO participated in more than 250 projects in the countries of the former Soviet Union and Mongolia [7] .
