The Chinese in the Republika Srpska ( Serbian Kinesi in the Republic of Srpskoe , whale. 中國 人 在 塞族 共和國 ) are citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina of Chinese origin who live and work in the territory of the Republika Srpska . The exact number of Chinese in the Republika Srpska is unknown. At present, the Chinese are not officially a national minority of the Republika Srpska.
Content
History
Chinese citizens migrated to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the late 1990s - early 2000s. Although many of them came here to do business, they stayed here for good and started a new life. The Chinese are settled throughout the territory of the Republika Srpska, most of them live in Banja Luka . They are mainly engaged in trade and business, as well as agriculture (in Bijelin, a large number are engaged in farming, there is a pig farm in Modrica). A catering business is developed (Chinese restaurants, selling Chinese seasonings) [1] .
The university’s philosophical faculty in Eastern Sarajevo has a department of Sinology and a Chinese language department, where Chinese professors are engaged in teaching activities on a regular basis. The Chinese community of Eastern Sarajevo is the main source of development of Chinese culture, there are regular events dedicated to the history and culture of China. The library of the University of Eastern Sarajevo contains over 1000 units of book material about China [2] .
Religion
The Chinese practice traditional religions (Taoism or Christianity), although a sufficient number are not religious people.
Associations
In Banja Luka, there is a Society of Friends of the People’s Republic of China and Bosnia and Herzegovina, founded in 1997 and has more than 100 members. In March 2016, the Serbian-Chinese Friendship of the Republika Srpska Society appeared in East Sarajevo to improve relations between the PRC and the Republika Srpska, cooperation in the fields of culture, science, teaching, economics and trade [3] .
