Career

Childhood

Born to Jim Crockett and Elizabeth Crockett in Charlotte, North Carolina . Jim Jr. graduated from Myers Park High School in his hometown in 1960. He and his younger brothers and sisters (David, Jackie, and Francis) were heavily involved in wrestling until their father died in 1973. Senior Crockett has been an organizer of wrestling events and other entertainments since 1931 (with him JCP joining the NWA in 1950).

Acceptance of Jim Crockett Promotions

Although Jim Crockett Sr. wanted his son-in-law John Ringley to lead the JCP, Jim Jr. reluctantly took over the company. Crockett invited wrestler George Scott as the main booker [1] and signed wrestlers from all over the country: from veterans such as Wahu McDaniel to young wrestlers like Rick Flair . [2]

Crockett Sells Company to Ted Turner

Since November 1988, Crockett was on the verge of bankruptcy and, through promoter Jim Barnett, [3] sold his company to Ted Turner , who renamed it World Championship Wrestling (WCW). [4] Crockett remained president of WCW until 1991. [5]

After wrestling

From the moment he left wrestling, Crockett worked in Texas as a realtor [6] and obtained mortgages . [7]
