Domanovsky Jan

Domanowski Jan (c. 1496 , village of Domanovo, Podlaskie Voivodeship - 1563 ) - royal secretary ( 1539 ), bishop of емemaiti ( 1555 - 1565 ), headed the 1st commission on the development of the Statute of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania 1566 .

He participated in the compilation of the 1st Vilnius Synodal Statute ( 1526 ).

Actively opposed the expansion of the Reformation .

In 1540 - 1544 he participated in the work of the commission to determine the border with Livonia , in 1545 - with Prussia .

In 1546, the ambassador from the RL of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania to Sigismund I on the unification of the coins of the Grand Duchy of Poland and Poland , the definition of joint borders.

In 1551, ambassador to Livonia to settle border issues. Probably, from 1551 he headed the 1st commission on the development of the Statute of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania 1566 , which consisted of 5 Catholics and 5 Orthodox. He was considered one of the most educated people of his time, a connoisseur of law.

From 1555 - Bishop of емemaiti (approved by the Pope in 1556 ). In this position during the diocesan synod in 1556 he supported the taxation of the clergy in favor of the army on the eve of the Livonian War .

In 1559 - 1561 he participated in all important state meetings on the question of the accession of Livonia to the Grand Duchy of Lithuania .

November 28, 1561 took the oath of Gotthard Ketler (Gotthard Kettler) and representatives of Livonia on allegiance to the Polish king.

On his initiative, Petr Roizuyus developed the statute of the емemaiti chapter: “Constitutiones Ecclesiae mednicensis” and “Novelle constitutionis ecclesie mednicensis” .
