Qualification System
The seats in the EKB Challenge Cup 2016/2017 were allocated according to the EKB rating for 2017 [2] , which takes into account the results of performances of club teams of EKB member countries in European competition over the course of three seasons (2012 / 2013–2014 / 2015). According to him, all the EKV member countries got the opportunity to declare their representatives in the Cup, and the countries taking 9-16 places in the ranking - 2 teams each, because they did not have the opportunity to directly include their teams in the Champions League, and in the EKV Cup could be represented by just one team each. Countries in the ranking at 1-8, 17-32 positions or not having rating points at all, could declare one team each.
Countries whose representatives took part in the 2016/2017 European Cup challenge call: Turkey , Russia , France , Germany , Switzerland (all on one team), Romania , Czech Republic , Belgium , Finland , Greece (all on 2 teams), Austria , Norway , Croatia , Hungary , Spain , Slovakia , Cyprus , Bulgaria , Kosovo , Portugal (all on one command). Austria got two vacancies, one each - Belgium, Croatia, Spain, and Slovakia. Also included in the draw is the Turkish Chanakkale as the holder of the Cup of the Balkan Volleyball Association (BVA). Before the start of the tournament, the Greek “Pannaxiacos” starred.

Draw System
In all stages of the tournament, the playoff system is used, that is, the teams are divided into pairs and spend two matches with each other on the road. The winner of the pair is the team that won two victories. In case of equality of victories, the winner is the team that scored the most points within the two-match series (3 points are given for victory 3: 0 and 3: 1, 2 points for victory 3: 2, 1 for defeat 2, 1 for defeat : 3 and 0: 3 points are not awarded). If both teams scored the same number of points, an additional (“golden”) set is assigned, the winner of which goes to the next round of the competition.
