Jurginis Juozas (lit. Jurginis ; February 5, 1909 , Vikonis Onikschiai district, Lithuania - July 5, 1994 ) - Lithuanian historian, Honored Science Worker of the Lithuanian SSR ( 1965 ), professor ( 1968 ), academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Lithuanian SSR ( 1968 ) . Laureate of the State Prize of the Lithuanian SSR in 1958 , 1969 , 1981 .

Biography
He studied at the Faculty of History of Kaunas University . For revolutionary activity in 1929 - 1934 and in 1937 he was arrested.
Since 1937 in Stockholm . As a member of the Comintern, he maintained contact with the Swedish Communists.
He visited the United States, where he lectured on Lithuanian culture and collected donations in support of prisoners of bourgeois Lithuania. In the USA, he wrote and published a Lithuanian primer under the symbolic name "Good morning!".
In 1940, director of the Political Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
After the defeat of Nazi Germany, as part of an expedition of 3 people ( Povilas Pakarklis , Bronislav Gertus, Juozas Yurginis), he searched for Lithuanian manuscripts in East Prussia . Part of the archive of the Teutonic Order was discovered in the Lochstedt Castle (manuscripts of the 16th century, Lithuanian books of the 16th – 18th centuries, archive of Ludvikas Reza , manuscripts of Donelaitis ).
In 1945 - 1948, director of the library of the Academy of Sciences of Lithuania.
From 1948 he worked at the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of Lithuania (from 1948–1951, 1956–1972, deputy director).
In 1950 - 1972 he taught at Vilnius University .
He studied culture, socio-economic relations in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania , the history of Vilnius , Vilnius University. One of the authors of the books “History of the Lithuanian SSR” (vols. 1-3, 1957–65; 1978; vol. 1, 1985), “History of the city of Vilnius” (“Vilniaus miesto istorija”. T. 1. - Vilnius, 1968) , “History of Vilnius University” (vols. 1–2, 1976–77). Prepared for publication the Code of Law of Casimir 1468 (“Kazimiero teisynas 1468 m.”. -Vilnius, 1967). The author of the memoirs "Traveler's Short Stories".
