History

A share of 1000 rubles, registered, Manufacturers Association Ludwig Rabeneck in Moscow [1]

The Manufactory Partnership, registered in 1879 (the Charter was Higherly approved on August 31, 1879), dates back to 1832, when the Prussian ludger Ludwig Rabeneck bought a small estate with farm and land in the village of Sobolevo on the right bank of the Klyazma River from the local landowner Pelageya Durnovo and founded here the first yarn-dyeing establishment in Russia. [2]

Initially, the manufacture of Ludwig Rabeneck was engaged in dyeing yarn in crimson color, subsequently having also mastered dyeing and printing on calico. [3]

After the founder’s death in 1862, the Rabeneck factory was transferred to his sons Ludwig (Leo) and Arthur, who transformed the company into a Mutual Partnership “Ludwig Rabeneck Sons” . [four]

The business of Rabenek was successful: from the middle of the 19th century, the factory regularly began to receive awards for its products: first at the All-Russian exhibitions in 1835 , 1839 , 1849 and 1861 , and then also at the Paris Exhibition in 1867. As Lev Ludwigovich wrote in his memoirs Rabenek, the last director of the Board of the Partnership and the great-grandson of the founder of the manufactory:

“In 1878, alizarin oil was introduced into crimson dyeing, which significantly reduced the cost of product development, and in 1890 a method of alkaline etching of crimson chintz, which was of great importance, was introduced due to the perfect strength of alkaline paints. For this important improvement, the Rabenekovskaya Manufactory received a large gold medal at the Central Asian Exhibition in Moscow in 1891. ”

Five buildings housed an office and management. The number of employees in the best years was 7,000. [five]

In 1894 , next to the existing factories of the Rabenek Manufactory Partnership - “Paper-spinning and weaving” and “Paper-dyeing and chintz-stuffed”, a new chemical plant was launched, at which for the first time in Russia the production of oleum - a component used to clean oil products, as well as for producing superphosphate and for the production of smokeless powder . During the years of World War I, the enterprises of the Manufacturing Partnership Ludwig Rabeneck in Moscow carried out orders of the military department, including the manufacture of chemical warfare agents [4] .
