Biography

Born on August 12, 1928 in the village of Katyshka, Galyshmanovsky District, Omsk Region (now the village of Golyshmanovo, Tyumen Region). He graduated from the seven-year school [1] .

After that, he worked as a mechanic at the Polevsky plant "Red Metallist" ( Polevskoy machine-building plant ). In 1943, he studied steelmaking at the school FZO . In June 1944, he worked as an assistant steel worker in the open-hearth workshop of the Seversky Metallurgical Plant , and a year later, in 1945, at the age of 16, he was appointed steel worker of the open-hearth furnace No. 2. Yuri Alexandrovich became an advanced steelmaker and in 1946 was awarded the medal “For Valiant work during the Great Patriotic War ". In 1949, Yuri Alexandrovich Smirnov was recognized as the best steel worker of the workshop and was awarded the medal "For Labor Difference." In 1960, he worked as a foreman at the furnace bay of the open-hearth workshop of the Seversky Pipe Plant [1] .

Yuri Alexandrovich was awarded many commemorative medals. In 1968 he graduated from the Cherepovets Metallurgical College with a degree in steel production. Then he was elected a deputy of the city council of people's deputies , a member of the city ​​committee of the CPSU . Yuri Alexandrovich retired in 1999. December 21, 2007, died [1] .

Family

Yuri Alexandrovich was married to Lyudmila Andreevna Smirnova, they had a son Igor and a daughter Tatyana [1] .

Memory

In 2009, a memorial plaque was installed on the wall of the Polevsky Versatile Technical School named after V. Nazarov [1] .

Awards

  • title "Honorary Metallurgist".
