Biography
Elias Silveriu was born on September 22, 1986 in the city of São Paulo .
Beginning of a professional career
He made his debut in mixed martial arts on a professional level in September 2011, defeated his first rival by unanimous decision. He fought mainly in local small promotions, since 2012 he began to cooperate with the large Brazilian organization Jungle Fight , where he won four victories in total and won the welterweight champion title. In addition, he spent one fight in the USA in the Ring of Combat promotion, knocking out American fighter Pat Defranco [1] [2] .
Ultimate Fighting Championship
With eight victories and not a single defeat in his track record, in 2013, Silveriu attracted the attention of the world's largest fighting organization Ultimate Fighting Championship and signed a long-term contract with it - while leaving the Jungle Fight champion title vacant. He made his debut here in a duel with compatriot Juan Zeferin , replacing the injured Kenny Robertson , and won three rounds by a unanimous decision [3] . In the next match in January 2014, he met with Isaac Valley-Flagg of America and, having descended to the light weight, won again by unanimous decision [4] . In the third battle, he defeated Ernest Chavez , forcing him to surrender with the help of a strangling technique from behind. Thus, he made a series of eleven straight victories. [5]
He suffered his first defeat in his career in December 2014 - in the third round, he lost by Russian technical knockout to Rashid Magomedov [6] . This defeat was followed by another, at a tournament in Canada by unanimous decision he was defeated by Canadian kickboxer Shane Campbell . On two defeats in a row, Silverio's collaboration with the UFC ended [7] .
Other organizations
After retiring from the UFC, Silverio continued to perform in MMA at home in less prestigious promotions such as Thunder Fight and Hugs Combat. In particular, in 2016 he won two victories and suffered one defeat.
