Reviews

The historian of literature and literary critic A. S. Nemzer, setting forth in the journal Znamya the story of the beginning of his work in the journal Literary Review , noted: [4]

I take this opportunity to note that I will always be grateful to Vladimir Maksimovich Piskunov - the head of the criticism department and my immediate superior in the first "convoy" years - and to the deputy chief editor Valentin Nikolaevich Khmara for everything that they taught me. And taught a lot.

And speaking of the hard work (together with I. D. Prokhorova , A. M. Ranchin and E. D. Shubina ) on the first ("Mandelstam") issue of 1991 and about his upcoming departure from the magazine, he recalled: [4]

Valentin Nikolaevich Khmara, in my opinion, who loved us and was sincerely saddened by our upcoming departure, did not make a single comment. For which, in February, when the issue came out, he received, according to eyewitnesses, a public stick from the editor-in-chief .
